ANDY WALKER
Desire lines
A desire line is the path carved by the erosion of footfalls, whether by animals or humans. This path typically signifies the shortest or most accessible route between a starting point and a destination.
In the realm of mark-making, chaos, and simplicity converge to deconstruct the human figure, allowing marks to symbolize our essence. It serves as the most direct route to comprehending the vastness of human nature and our intricate existence.

"Each of us is inherently unique, with paths yet unfinished. The majority love to feel like we belong to a tribe, a community, and when we are within the tribe we feel happiest."

Manchester born Andy Walker graduated from Liverpool John Moore University with a degree in Fine Art in 1994. Since then he has called Brighton his home where he explores the interplay of chaos and calm in his abstract paintings. Using various media, Walker creates larger-than-life artworks that capture the tension between disorder and serenity.
CURRENT COLLECTION
FESTIVAL
A collection of painting and drawings recalling memories of tribal gatherings and shenanigans
"A friend recently explained music as the closest thing you can get to magic. It punctuates both highs and lows and allows for so much emotion.
Festivals are a modern day celebration of life, based on the oldest celebration; the beat of a drum and lighting of fire, letting yourself dance sing and live. They magnify the joy of living, where fun flies the flag.
In these pieces I’m recalling freedom and a regression to childhood.
Elated, full tilt, singing, with the feeling of belonging to the right tribe.
I’ve so many blurred and beautiful memories from such gatherings: movement; colour, shapes, and strangers with high glances as we all rejoice, love and laugh with our closest humans. This collection aims to make those experiences visible and to remind us of the joy of communing, with heaps of musical magic thrown in. "
